AlphaZomal® Vitamin C is liposomal vitamin C for enhanced absorption and utilisation. Each two-capsule daily dose supplies 600 mg of vitamin C as L-ascorbic acid, in a form designed to get past the limits of ordinary vitamin C absorption. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system, to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums and teeth, to normal energy-yielding metabolism and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
The advantage of liposomal-form nutrients is that they are held inside a double phospholipid layer — the material of our own cell membranes — so they are absorbed more efficiently. Over 90% of the vitamin C in this supplement is in liposomal form. No heat, high pressure, solvents, freeze drying or spray drying are used in production, so the nutrients reach you clean and intact. The phospholipids themselves are extracted from non-GMO sunflower oil and RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil; there is no sunflower or palm oil as such in the product, only the phospholipids taken from them.
Because the vitamin C is carried inside liposomes, this formula can use pure, unbuffered L-ascorbic acid rather than the ascorbate salts (sodium or calcium ascorbate) that many supplements substitute to spare the stomach, so there is no mineral load alongside the vitamin. The ascorbic acid is enclosed within the phospholipid layer rather than free in the stomach, so there is no excessive acidity to contend with, and the liposome delivers it more efficiently. For the same reason the formula has no need of the bioflavonoids or other absorption aids usually added to vitamin C products: it contains nothing but vitamin C and the phospholipids that carry it.
AlphaZomal Vitamin C contains:
- Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid), 300 mg per capsule: Pure, unbuffered vitamin C, made non-acidic and gentle on the stomach by its liposomal delivery. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system, including during and after intense physical exercise; to the protection of cells from oxidative stress; to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums and teeth; to normal energy-yielding metabolism; to normal functioning of the nervous system and normal psychological function; to the regeneration of the reduced form of vitamin E; to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue; and it increases iron absorption.
- Phospholipids (from sunflower and palm oil), 130 mg per capsule: The liposome material itself, the same phosphatidylcholine-rich lipids that make up our own cell membranes.
No added sugar, no flavourings, no preservatives. Soya-free, dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan.
Directions: As a food supplement, take 2 capsules a day with water, preferably at mealtimes, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.

Available size: 60 veg capsules (30 days' supply)
Directions: As a food supplement, take two capsules a day with water, preferably at mealtimes, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner. The capsules may be opened and the contents added to food or drink. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
Children: This food supplement is for adults only; it is not suitable for children.
Contraindications: Do not take if hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. If pregnant or breastfeeding, it is always best to consult a health professional before taking this or any other product.
Allergens & potential side-effects: Contains no known allergens. Well tolerated. Unlike high-dose ordinary vitamin C, the liposomal form is not acidic in the stomach, so it is gentle on the stomach and unlikely to cause the loose bowels associated with large doses of ascorbic acid.
Dietary information: Suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Soya-free, dairy-free, gluten-free and lactose-free. Non-GMO, not irradiated. No added sugar, flavourings, colours or preservatives. Phospholipids extracted from non-GMO sunflower oil and RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil; the product contains no sunflower or palm oil as such.
Suggested combinations: Combine with AlphaZomal® Glutathione, which vitamin C helps to keep in its active form, for a fuller antioxidant programme, or with AlphaZomal® Vitamin B12 for everyday immune and energy support.
For everyday immune and antioxidant support, AlphaZomal® Vitamin C offers the vitamin in a form that is absorbed efficiently and is gentle on the stomach, without the sugar and flavourings of the liquid liposomal products.
AlphaZomal® Vitamin C solves a problem that most people never realise they have with vitamin C. Ordinary ascorbic acid is absorbed in the small intestine by a dedicated transport system, and that system saturates: at doses of a few hundred milligrams most of the vitamin is taken up, but as the dose rises the proportion absorbed falls steeply, and by a gram or more the greater part passes straight through, drawing water with it. Taking more, in other words, gives diminishing returns and an unsettled stomach. Liposomal vitamin C bypasses the transporter altogether; the phospholipid spheres are taken up by the gut wall as fat is, so absorption no longer depends on a saturable carrier, and a moderate dose achieves what a much larger ordinary dose cannot.
The AlphaZomal formula is a dry liposomal powder in a capsule rather than the more familiar liquid. Liquid liposomal vitamin C has a strong, unpleasant taste that has to be masked with sweeteners and flavourings, and it deteriorates quickly once opened. The powder form needs none of that: the capsule contains only vitamin C and phospholipids, it tastes of nothing, and it keeps for three years from manufacture.
The choice of L-ascorbic acid rather than an ascorbate deserves a word. Ascorbic acid is vitamin C in its plain, unbuffered form, nothing but the vitamin itself, but taken neat in quantity it is acidic and can be hard on a sensitive stomach. That is why so many supplements use buffered ascorbates instead, and why they so often add bioflavonoids, rose hips and other helpers in the hope of improving uptake, though the evidence that they do is thin. In this product over 90% of the ascorbic acid is enclosed within liposomes, so it does not sit free in the stomach as an acid; the phospholipid shell carries it through the gut wall intact. The liposome does the work that the buffering and the bioflavonoids were there to do, which is why the manufacturer can use pure ascorbic acid without its drawbacks, free of the sodium or calcium that comes with an ascorbate, and why there is nothing in the capsule but vitamin C and the lipids that deliver it.
The capsules may be opened and the contents stirred into food or a cold drink for anyone who prefers not to swallow capsules. The product is supplied in an amber glass jar to protect the contents from light.
