Wild Klamath Blue Green Algae (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae)
Regarded by many nutritionists as the most powerful algae type, Klamath Blue Green Algae (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae) grows wild in the mineral-rich Upper Klamath Lake in Oregon. In the water, it looks a bit like blades of grass. This beautiful lake freezes in the winter and the area is very hot in the summer, creating extreme environmental conditions which encourage this blue-green algae to produce a uniquely high and vital nutritional profile, including many powerful green pigments and carotenoids, as well as a whole host of other nutrients including B12, trace-minerals, and nucleic acids. The algae is cool dried before encapsulation to maintain nutritional integrity and to naturally concentrate and preserve its nutrients. Chlorella (Chlorella pyrenoidosa)
Chlorella is a unicellular green algae which has many remarkable health benefits, and is known to help support detoxification and immunity. It is also a source of chlorella growth factor (CGF) which is considered by some to be its primary health benefit. The species we use in this product is chlorella pyrenoidosa, which is known to have a higher concentration of certain vitamins and amino acids, and also a higher concentration of CGF. KBG Super-3 chlorella is grown organically to ensure purity, and the cell wall is broken to ensure optimum absorption, and cool dried to maximize its nutritional profile.
Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis)
Spirulina is a blue-green algae like Klamath Blue Green Algae, but it is single-celled and so slightly more primative. In fact, it has probably been on the planet for over 3 billion years. Spirulina tends to be a cultivated algae because, being single-celled, it is difficult to harvest cleanly from the wild. Spirulina is one of the richest sources of carotenoids, including beta carotene, amino acids, minerals and many other nutritional components. KBG Super-3 spirulina is grown organically to ensure purity. And because, like Klamath above, it has a soft cell wall, these nutrients are readily available and assimilable. The high quality spirulina in KBG Super-3 is gently dried to maintain nutritional integrity.

Contraindications: Do not take if hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. Chlorella contains significant amounts of Vitamin K1, important for blood clotting, and so theoretically might decrease the anticoagulant activity and effectiveness of blood thinners such as warfarin. Theoretically, concurrent use of blue-green algae might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy. Blue-green algae might stimulate the immune system. Spirulina blue-green algae also have been demonstrated to have antiplatelet and anticoagulant effects in vitro. Finally, if pregnant or breastfeeding‚ it is always best to consult a health professional before taking this or any other product.
