TreeSisters is an audacious campaign fuelled by the love and creativity of every-day women who are building a global network to help reforest the tropics within 10 years. If you want to see this vision become a reality, then step in now and help them grow some roots!
We are rapidly losing the Earth's greatest biological treasures; an estimated 137 plant, animal and insect species are lost each day, the rainforests that once covered 16% of our planet's land surface disappearing at such an alarming rate that experts estimate by 2060 the last remaining rainforest will be consumed. With the trees and animals we will lose many possible cures for life threatening diseases.
TreeSisters is a registered charity that supports the emergence of a global network of women committed to heal their relationship to each other and the Earth. They aim to develop educational and organizational tools to mobilize women's attention and leadership, and to direct grassroots funds towards tree-planting projects managed by their partners, Project Greenhands and the Greenbelt Movement. 100,000 women giving £9 a month could plant 24 million trees in India in a single year. The charity believes the change is not going to happen through bigger helpings of more of the same. Our current mind-based culture is unlikely to find the solution; the heart is needed to balance the mind and women tend to lead more instinctively from their hearts.
TreeSisters works towards a better future and welcomes all who wish to help. They are not rejecting or excluding men, they are reaching out and encouraging women to step forward together. The charity has supporters all around the world who help raise funds and awareness in a creative, inspiring way. There are TreeSisters volunteers in Bristol and Bath in the UK, preparing to create group events and friendly gatherings for all like-minded supporters. Once they have 1000 monthly donors, the charity will be able to start funding a minimum of 4000 new trees every month. When it's 10,000 donors it’ll be over a million trees per month. Every small donation is invaluable and brings us closer to a secure future for everyone.
