Royal jelly has been recognized for its remarkable health-giving properties for many thousands of years. Even, in Ancient Egyptian times, the best was reserved for the Pharaoh to ensure that he had a long and healthy life. Today, an old-fashioned London health shop, run by the ever-youthful 87 year-old Margaret Weesz, supplies equally high quality royal jelly, but not the usual freeze-dried and/or encapsulated product you will find on health shop shelves. Fresh royal jelly is a powerhouse of nucleic acids (RNA and DNA), enzymes, vitamins (A, B, C, C and E), minerals (potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc and manganese) and gelatine (a precursor of collagen, which might explain why those who take it believe it helps keep their skin looking smooth and youthful).
