Many of us have now heard of the damaging molecules called free radicals which are produced in our bodies. Whilst most free radials are a by-product of normal metabolism, unless the body has a sufficient supply of antioxidants - compounds which neutralize these free radicals - they can reach damaging concentrations, oxidizing our cells in a similar way that air oxidizes a newly cut apple, making it turn brown.
