Really Healthy Company reports on
Professor Rupert Handgretinger
This month Nancy writes about doctor and researcher Professor Rupert Handgretinger. Currently working at Tubingen University Hospital, who has conducted exciting research in the field of NK Cells, he will be speaking at the Cancer Convention in Birmingham.
Professor of Haematology and Oncology in Paediatrics and General Paediatrics at the Tübingen University Hospital. He is also Medical Director of the same department in the Clinic of Child and Adolescent Medicine. Prior to this Professor Handgretinger worked in the USA as head of stem cell transplantation at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. We are interested in Professor Handgretinger's work because his focus is primarily in the field of cell therapy of Leukemic patients and other serious illness along with the role that Natural Killer (NK) cells play. His work is based on the fact that knowledge gained at stem cell research level can be applied to leukaemia as well as other diseases including diabetes and rheumatism. These are the diseases that are occurring in children more often. And whilst disease in children is Prof. Handgretinger's speciality, he also sees strong demand for the development of this form of therapy for older patients as well.
It's refreshing to have the discoveries of such a high calibre researcher available to us. Usually this type of researcher has only medical students and colleagues to address. And it is very opportune that we can hear his findings in his own words, with his own enthusiasm for his subject.
If any of you have not yet booked, this is quite an opportunity. (Booking info). He has the mastery of a man who makes what appears sophisticated and complex understandable and exciting.
Cancer master Classes
Patrica Peat, founder of Cancer Options, will be holding two Cancer Master Classes to teach people about the many different elements to an integrative approach to dealing with cancer and building a cancer free life afterwards.
If you or anyone you know is suffering from cancer, these master classes would be a great place to learn more about available treatments and support.
