Our joints and bones form the basic structure and foundation of our bodies. But as we age or if we live on a mineral deficient diet, our bones and joints can begin to deteriorate. This can lead to restricted lifestyles and the risk of brittle bones later in life.
The best way to take in sufficient minerals to have a mineral rich diet that might include low-fat dairy products, tofu (if prepared using calcium sulphate contains more than four times the calcium of whole cow's milk), green leafy vegetables, seaweeds, seeds and nuts. (Many believe dairy products, however, to be unhealthy and the minerals contained in it to not be easily absorbed.)
However, the dietary source of minerals in today's depleted foods and diets means that supplementation has become very important. The problem with many joint and bone supplements is that they are not natural sources of the requirements that we need, and often do not contain the full spectrum of minerals and other co-factors that allow the minerals to be absorbed and most efficiently utilized.
The following supplements are natural sources of the minerals and natural compounds that can be helpful with joints and bones. They are unfortunately animal-sourced products but they do provide the best natural answer.
